Overview
Set in six and a half hectares of lush green gardens, and situated beside a white sandy beach and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, this resort houses an awesome scene worthy of it’s title. Ocean Paradise Resort offers a large number of high quality and wide ranging facilities to keep you entertained, comfortable and in the pink.
Mature coconut palms swinging in the breeze, white sandy beach, beautiful landscaped gardens, traditional style round chalets with pitched makuti roof, a stunning waterfall feature and the largest swimming pool in Zanzibar are just some of the sights on offer.
Accommodation
Rooms and suites are all built in traditional African style roundhouses, fully kitted out with modern creature comforts that include full air conditioning, satellite television and radio, direct dial telephone, mini-bar, hair dryer and en-suite bathroom. All rooms are a good size and sea facing with large doors that open to a private patio or balcony and come complete with comfortable twin or king size beds draped with stylish mosquito netting.
Facilities
The resort is home to two very fine restaurants. The Ocean Restaurant, sitting two floors up, has panoramic views over the resort and the Indian Ocean beyond. In the evening, the mood changes, with soft lighting, candles and an extensive themed buffet which changes daily.
Down at the pool, the Jahazi Restaurant menu offers an a la carte selection of international and authentic Zanzibari dishes as well as tasty poolside snacks and top notch wood fired pizza. Each day the restaurant offers something different to keep it’s guests entertained. The entertainment includes African dancers, acrobats and live music as well as sports broadcasts and competitions.
Other activities
Ocean Paradise Resort has a professional PADI accredited dive company on site to organize and oversee diving trips and can provide full tuition and certification available from qualified divers.
Other water sports activities include windsurfing, sailing and kayaking, together with an array of dolphin tours and boat trips.
For those who prefer to keep their feet on dry land, the resort boasts a fully equipped gym, beach volleyball, snooker and table tennis.
Our opinion
Ocean Paradise Resort is a very decent resort; clean, spacious and welcoming. Like all big hotels, the resort can seem a little more impersonal than those smaller ones, but the staff are friendly, polite, caring and always there to make each guest feel comfortable. The rooms are a good size, clean and well decorated, and the food is great.
Definitely a good choice!
